I've grown interested in this subject for a few reasons. Another thing we were never taught anything about in history classes in school.

I watch tv only when falling asleep and there was an old re-run of some talk show with two guys from Hollywood on. One said something like "Well, you know if it hadn't been for unions there'd be no minimum wage." And I went to sleep thinking about that.

Since I heard the news story about the mother who called her baby boy's job and complained because the little one didn't get a nice job performance review I've been wondering what the hell is going on out there.

I particularly love the photos of the women striking at Woolworth's in NYC and at Kress's in San Francisco. I really had never thought about women working and striking in the 1930s.

This reminds me of a story... of when I picketed an antique store that ripped me off for some consignment money. It was actually quite funny. It didn't change the world but it did change theirs. They went out of business in a month. I might tell what and why sometime. See, one person can make a difference.

If every person working for Wal-Mart, every one of them in every store in this country walked out, that would make a difference to Wal-Mart, the great destroyer of democracy, human rights, animal rights, and practioners of despicable labor practices. The people in these photos went on strike even during the Great Depression.

Oh, now that TheDarkRealm has me talking I guess I will keep talking... I have thoughts on most everything. I don't mind talking into the ether. I do that in my apartment :)

For now, my thanks to all of the men, women and children who struggled to give us Unemployment Insurance and Minimum Wage in the U.S.
